These are the answers to the most frequently asked questions by our customers. If your question is not listed here, please reach out to us here.

Our standard operating hours are:

  • 7am to 5pm on Saturday, Sunday and Monday
  • 8am to 2 pm then 4 pm to 5 pm on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
  • Unfortunately, we are closed on Wednesdays.

Please note that we are not always at our facility, so if you need to come and see us outside of a scheduled pick up or drop off time, please contact us beforehand to ensure we will be there!

Alternatively, you can book an appointment with us here!

Appointments outside these times can be arranged by request.

Unless you have arranged to have the motorcycle delivered and/or picked up from your location, all motorcycles must be picked up and returned to our facility located at 1 Olympic Circuit, Southport. You will find us in the Kennard Self Storage Units on the corner and we will be there to meet you.

Click here to see our location on a map.

By far the best way is to catch the Gold Coast Light Rail (G:Link) and disembark at the Queen Street station. That’s how we get there! Many of the G:Link stations have large carparks and “kiss and ride” drop off areas (we didn’t name them that!).

Click here, for an interactive map of the G:Link system with information on each station. Note also the G:Link meets the heavy rail at Helensvale Station, so if you are coming from Brisbane, you can still catch the G!

We are located within a minutes walk of the Queen Street Light Rail station in Southport, so that you don’t need your car!

During the week there is virtually no parking available near our facility, and only limited parking on the weekends, which is why we catch the light rail!

Yes!

Subject to availability, delivery and/or pickup of our motorcycles to your specified location incurs an additional charge of $50.00 within the Gold Coast boundaries, and outside of the Gold Coast, $50.00 plus $1.00 per kilometre from the boundary.

  • You and any additional rider must be aged between 25 and 75 years old, hold a current Australian motorcycle license, produce the original on the day of pick up, and allow us to take a copy for our records. International licenses in English are also accepted (with a passport).

Click here to see an outline of license, age and experience criteria.

Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions to these criteria for insurance reasons. Further information is contained in our Motorcycle Rental Terms & Conditions.

Yes – all riders must apply for an Approved Rider Account prior to riding one of our motorcycles (this can be completed online via our website, or in store). This is the case if you are renting the motorcycle yourself, or if you are an additional rider. Our recommendation is to complete the Approved Rider Application online, well before you plan to rent and ride one of our motorcycles. There would be nothing worse than turning up on the day, and finding out you do not qualify!

To apply online, follow the simple 2 step process below:

  1. Create a standard user account on our website – click here to create your account now.
  2. Apply for an Approved Rider Account by completing a short questionnaire and submit it to us for review. Once reviewed, you will be advised of the outcome via email as soon as possible (normally within 24 hours). Click here to get started on your application.

An Approved Rider Account is required before our website will allow you to book a motorcycle.

Further information is contained in our Motorcycle Rental Terms & Conditions.

Yes – there are three types of Approved Rider Account as follows:

  • Approved Rider (R) for holders of unrestricted motorcycle licenses who also have the required minimum of three (3) years appropriate riding experience, and who are over 25 years of age. This account type allows you to rent and ride any of our motorcycles.

Approved Rider (LAMS) for holders of restricted motorcycle licenses, or holders of unrestricted motorcycle licenses who do not have the required minimum of three (3) years appropriate riding experience. This account type allows you to rent and ride only our LAMS motorcycles.

  • Non-Approved Rider for riders who don’t meet the criteria for the above account types. You cannot rent or ride any of our motorcycles with this account type.

Click here to see an outline of Approved Rider Account Types.

Both Approved Rider (R) and (LAMS) accounts are valid for 12 months from the date of approval. To renew your account, you must complete and submit the Approved Rider Application form again, with the latest information.

Non-Approved Rider accounts remain in place for 3 months from the date of processing, after which time you may re-apply for an Approved Rider Account (R) or (LAMS). In the event that your account has been declined due to age, the Non-Approved Rider account will remain in place until the date of your 21st birthday.

    1. Log into our website using your username or email address and password, and go to the “My account” page by clicking on your name or avatar in the top right of the screen, and selecting ‘Dashboard’.

    2. Click on the “Memberships” tab as shown below, and a list of your current memberships will open (if you only have a standard membership you will be taken to step 3 automatically).
    3. Click on view for the relevant membership, and the screen shown below will open with the date your Approved Rider status was granted together with the expiry date. You may also cancel your approved Rider status by clicking the “Cancel” button (we’re not quite sure why you would want to do this, but you can if you want to!).

If you have not purchased a Booking Guarantee, and you have to cancel your booking more than 30 days prior to your booked pickup date, there is no charge to you. Any amounts you have already paid us will be refunded in full.

If you have to cancel your booking within 30 days from the booked pickup date, we charge 20% of the booked rental cost. Any amounts you have already paid us will be refunded less this amount.

If you purchase a Booking Guarantee at the time you book a motorcycle on our website, then in the event of unexpected sickness, unforeseen events, or even just bad weather you may transfer your booking to another date within 90 days of the original booking, without incurring a cancellation fee. You must notify us more than 2 days prior to your original booking that you wish to use your booking guarantee, and you can use it only once.

Further information is contained in our Motorcycle Rental Terms & Conditions.

Yes! We rent helmets, jackets and gloves. These can be selected on our website either as a separate rental, or when booking a motorcycle (which is much easier!).

All of our safety equipment is fully disinfected after each use, so there is no risk of catching……well, anything really (not from our equipment anyway)!

Some of our motorcycles have optional panniers/top box, and these can be selected on our website when booking a motorcycle. These are listed under the heading “Extras”.

The remaining motorcycles have nothing, so if you need panniers/top box, don’t rent one of these!

Most of our motorcycles are fitted with pillion seats, and are registered for two riders. We didn’t say they were comfortable, only that they are fitted!

There are some exceptions, so please check the motorcycle details carefully when booking.

Our standard security deposits are as follows:

  • Motorcycles less than 200cc – minimum $200 or 50% of the total rental cost (whichever is higher) up to a maximum of $2,000 (for longer rentals).
  • Motorcycles greater than 201cc – minimum $500 or 50% of the total rental cost (whichever is higher) up to a maximum of $5,000 (for longer rentals).

Security deposits must be paid (in store) before taking delivery of the motorcycle on the booked date, and are in addition to the rental charge.

Security deposits are normally refunded within 24 hours of the safe return of the motorcycle in the required condition, subject to our Motorcycle Rental Terms & Conditions.

While we guarantee to process the applicable refund within 24 hours (where applicable), your bank can take a number of days to process these transactions – this can take up to 7 business days, however, normally take between 2 to 4 business days.

Motorcycles which are returned with less than a full tank of fuel, or with damage or missing parts or accessories, delay the processing of your security deposit until the relevant issue is resolved.

Our standard damage excess is as follows:

  • Motorcycles less than 200cc – $2,000
  • Motorcycles greater than 201cc – $5,000

These amounts can be reduced by 50% by selecting the Damage Excess Reduction option at the time you book a motorcycle.

More information on the Damage Excess and how and when it is applied can be found in our Motorcycle Rental Terms & Conditions.

We provide 2 ways to pay for road tolls as follows:

  1. Standard method – at the end of the rental period we check to see if you incurred any road tolls, and if so, we deduct these from your security deposit refund.
  2. Road toll package – you can purchase a Road Toll Package on our website at the time you book a motorcycle, and regardless of how many road tolls you incur, or how much they are, we will take care of them (no deduction to your security deposit refund).

On the day of pickup, you must bring the following:

  • You!
  • Your drivers license (copies not accepted)
  • Your passport (if you hold an international license)
  • Your physical credit/debit card with sufficient funds to pay for any outstanding rental charge balance and the required security deposit.

Only persons holding an Approved Rider Account on our website are permitted to operate our motorcycles. Persons not holding an account MUST NOT operate our motorcycles.

Further information is contained in our Motorcycle Rental Terms & Conditions.

You will get wet!

Seriously though, if you have purchased a Booking Guarantee, wet weather is no problem as you can change your booking to another time within 90 days of your original booking (provided you give us a minimum of 2 days notice that you wish to do so).

We do not supply wet weather gear, so please either bring your own, pick some up from one of the many local motorcycle accessorises stores on the Gold Coast, or resign yourself to your fate and get wet!

In the event of mechanical breakdown, you must contact Gold Coast Motorcycle Rental immediately, and we will arrange recovery (if required) or repairs by an approved provider.

All our motorcycles are fitted with puncture/inflation kits to get you out of trouble. There is a short instructional video on our YouTube channel on how to use these kits, however, if you are not comfortable doing so, please contact us for assistance.

In the event you lose the key to the motorcycle, you must contact us immediately. We do keep spare keys, and we can send this to you, however, lost keys incur a charge of $500 plus the cost of getting the spare key to you. Better to keep it safe!

All our motorcycles have standard steering locks, and are also supplied with disc locks for you to use when parking to improve security.

It is up to you to ensure the motorcycle is secured from theft as far as reasonably practicable.

All motorcycles are handed over with a full tank of fuel, and must be returned to us with a full tank of fuel. Motorcycles returned with less than a full tank of fuel incur an $50 refuelling charge.

Further information is available here.

All motorcycles must only be refuelled with premium 95 RON fuel.

Yes – all motorcycles can be returned early provided you notify us of your intention to do so, as we are not always at our facility. Any required refunds will be issued in 1 day increments only.

In the event that a rental discount has been applied based on the length of your rental, the discount rate will be adjusted if your shortened rental incurs a different discount rate.

Rental Period extensions can be made only where subsequent customers are not impacted, and the additional rental charges do not exceed the current security deposit amount held by Us, unless You make an additional payment for the additional charges before the extension takes effect.

If you are running late to return the motorcycle, please contact us and let us know as soon as possible. Late charges apply as follows:

  • up to 3 hours late – $25 per hour (incurred after the first 20 minutes of each hour)
  • greater than 3 hours late – an additional days hire for each day or part day it is overdue.

Yes! Motorcycles can be picked up and/or returned outside of our normal opening hours (click here for our standard hours), however, an additional fee of $50 is applicable for each instance.

If you wanted to return the same motorcycle at 6pm, there would be an additional $100 charge, as our closing time on Thursdays is 5pm.
